BioMat Sciences is a technology company in the business of discovery, development and marketing of advanced materials for oral heath applications. It's flagship product, Primagen, is a high-performance advanced adhesive for bonding restorative polymers to tooth structure. BioMat additionally markets and sells "peripherals," products that enhance the utility of Primagen and help practitioners solve everyday problems faced in dental practice. After all, BioMat was founded by a dentist/scientist who started the company to deliver value both to dental professionals and to patients.

RESEARCH MEETING IN NEW ORLEANS:
BioMat's Founder and Scientific Director,  Dr. Ivan Stangel, presented a research paper on new materials in the arena of metal-polymer composites at the recent meeting of the International Association of Dental Research in New Orleans.  This work focuses on developing new high performance materials for load bearing surfaces of teeth. The research was supported through a grant from the National Institutes of Dental and Craniofacial Research at the NIH.  


BOOK CHAPTER ON ADHESION
:
Dr. Ivan Stangel, along with two former university colleagues, additionally authored a book chapter on contemporary clinical adhesion which appeared in the July 2007 issue of Dental Clinics of North America.  The chapter focuses on developments in adhesion, right through the current generations of materials, and provides understandings and guidance as to the state of the art of bonding systems.

BIOMAT SUPPORTS DENTAL EDUCATION THROUGH THE EDUCATIONAL RESEARCH GROUP (ERG) OF THE IADR:
BioMat Sciences has sponsored the ERG reception, which took place as part of the annual meeting of the International Association of Dental Research in Brisbane, Australia. BioMat will continue to support educational research through the ERG by providing matching funding for educational research at dental schools on an ongoing basis.
